RM@Schools – Raw MatTERS Ambassadors at Schools

As Materials for Energy and Environment Lab, we are excited to participate in the European project "RM@Schools 4.0" by EIT Raw Materials. The project aims to engage high school students on sustainability topics related to raw materials, a critical issue that will shape the future of our planet. Recently, we had our first meeting with two classes from Liceo Galilei in Voghera, where we discussed the three pillars of sustainability and their many facets. We aimed to go beyond the usual environmental slogans and convey the complexity of this concept.

During the meeting, we discussed the environmental, social, and economic dimensions of sustainability and how they relate to using and managing raw materials. We also highlighted how sustainability is a crucial driver for innovation and development in many industries.

We were impressed by the enthusiasm and interest of the students, who asked insightful questions and shared their experiences and ideas. We believe that this kind of engagement with younger generations is vital to shaping a more sustainable future.

Through the RM@School project, we hope to continue to work with high schools to promote sustainability and inspire the next generation of professionals and citizens to be agents of change in their communities and beyond.

Stay tuned for updates on our project and other initiatives that we undertake in the field of sustainability and materials science.
