Paola Gallo Stampino Ph.D., graduated in Materials Science at the University of Milano-Bicocca with a thesis entitled “Sintesi via sol-gel, caratterizzazione spettromagnetica e proprietà di luminescenza di vetri scintillatori”. In 2007 she obtained her Ph.D. in Materials Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano with a dissertation on “Reactivity and hydration kinetics processes in cementitious systems: stabilization/solidification of hazardous wastes”. During her Ph.D., she attended workshops and thematic schools on microstructural analysis of materials.
Since 2003, she has been working at the Dipartimento di Chimica, Materiali e Ingegneria Chimica “Giulio Natta” of the Politecnico di Milano with the research group “Materials for Energy and Environment”.
Research topics:
- ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
- SUSTAINABLE BUILDINGS
Detailed topics:
Her primary interests are synthesizing and characterizing materials for the environment and energy. The main topics of her research activities are:
- Modification and characterization of sorbent materials (clay- or carbon-based materials) for wastewater treatment and recycling processes
- Natural materials for sustainable buildings and bio-architecture
- Materials in archaeology
- Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment (LCSA)
