Maria Genduso graduated in 2023 in Materials Engineering and Nanotechnology at Politecnico di Milano. During her studies she had the opportunity to work at the University of Stuttgart (Germany), where she carried out her master thesis on the removal of heavy metals from wastewater by exploiting the action of microalgae. Maria joined the Mat4En2 group in 2023 as a PhD candidate and her research focuses on the recovery of metals from electric and electronic waste in collaboration with Osai A.S. S.p.A.

Maria’s research activity aims to recover precious metals and rare-earth elements from e-waste, with a focus on the sustainability of the process. The core of this work is the exploitation of the action of different sorbents on metal leachates.
